Brooklyn resident Trevor Garrett Taylor has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and other offenses for the violent assault that left a father dead in May.

Christopher Wright had his head strike the concrete outside his home in the 300 block of Arundel Road West in Brooklyn and he was reportedly struck in the face several time after an incident at his son's school involving Taylor.

The incident played out at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, May 19, when the 43-year-old Wright had to be rushed to an area trauma center with critical injuries, where he would die the following night.

According to Wright’s family, Taylor was among a group that threatened Wright’s boy before the attack.

“Chris went outside to defend his son and was beaten in the head and his head was slammed on the concrete repeatedly causing significant brain damage," organizers of a GoFundMe posted after his death. "These men took the life of an amazing father and life partner. He left this Earth and those who loved him way too soon.”

After he was killed, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide by blunt force trauma and Taylor was identified as one of the suspects involved in the brutal assault.

Taylor was charged on an outstanding warrant with:

  • Manslaughter;
  • Three counts of second-degree assault;
  • Affray;
  • Disorderly conduct.

He is being held at the Central Holding and Processing Facility in Annapolis pending his initial court appearance.
